Plus-Size Style at Shopise: Where We Stand & What's Coming

Where Shopise Stands on Plus-Size Sizing — and What We're Doing About It

Right now, most Shopise styles run from XS through XL, with select pieces reaching a US size 12–14. We know that isn't enough — and we're actively working to change it.

If you've ever opened a boutique website, fallen in love with a silhouette, and then discovered it only goes up to a medium — you already know the frustration. It's one of the most common complaints we see across women's fashion, and it's one we take seriously. This post is our honest conversation about where our sizing stands today, which current styles work best for curvier frames, and how we're approaching extended sizing going forward.

For a first look at what's now on the site, browse our extended plus-size range in XL–3X+.

The Reality of Our Current Size Range

Most pieces in our collection are sized S, M, L, and XL. A handful of styles — including several of our two-piece sets and bodycon dresses — map XL to approximately a US size 12. That's the upper boundary for the majority of our current catalog.

We hear you: XL is not plus-size. A US 12 is not the end of the curve spectrum. Shoppers looking for XL–2X, 2X–3X, and beyond are a huge part of the fashion conversation, and the demand for our silhouettes in those sizes is real and consistent.

That demand is now being answered — Shopise's extended plus-size range in XL through 3X+ is here.

We're not going to dress that up with vague promises. What we can do is be transparent about what works now, give you the most accurate sizing guidance possible so you can shop with confidence today, and share what's on our roadmap.

How to Get the Best Fit From Our Current Styles

One thing we've learned from our customers is that sizing inconsistency — not just size range — is a barrier. Several of our styles run small relative to the size chart, which means that even shoppers well within our stated range can end up with a poor fit. Here's how to navigate that.

Always Measure First — Don't Guess by Label

Before ordering, measure your bust, waist, and hips with a soft tape measure and compare each number independently to the size chart on the product page. Our silhouettes vary significantly: a bodycon bandage dress needs a different fit logic than a flowy A-line maxi. The number on your usual clothing tag is a starting point, not a guarantee.

Not sure exactly where to place the tape? Our complete size guide with step-by-step measurements and fit notes walks you through each one.

When in Doubt, Size Up

Multiple styles in our catalog — including our knit and bodycon dresses — are explicitly noted to run small. If you're between sizes, or if your measurements sit at the top of a size bracket, we strongly recommend going up. It's much easier to have a dress taken in slightly than to squeeze into one that's too tight through the bust or hips.

Pay Special Attention to the Bust

Several of our structured dresses include built-in bust padding. Currently, that padding is fixed — it can't be removed or swapped out. If you have a fuller bust, the padding can create a fit mismatch where you need to size up for your chest, which may then feel loose elsewhere. We know this is a real frustration, and adjustable or removable padding is something we're actively evaluating for future designs. For now: if your bust measurement puts you between sizes, size up and consider light tailoring at the waist if needed.

Tall and Petite Shoppers: Read the Model Details

Every product page lists our model's height, waist, hip, and bust measurements, as well as which size she's wearing. If you're under 5'3" or over 5'10", use those details as a proportional reference — not just the size. Petite shoppers may find midi lengths hit closer to maxi on them; taller shoppers may find mini dresses shorter than expected. We're working on adding explicit petite and tall fit notes to product pages.

Current Styles That Work Well for Curvier Frames

While our extended size range is still in development, several of our existing styles are cut in ways that are genuinely more forgiving and flattering across a wider range of body shapes. Here are a few worth knowing about.

The Arlene Two-Piece Satin Set

The Arlene Two-Piece Satin Set
The Arlene Two-Piece Satin Set — a strapless relaxed top paired with full-length wide-leg pants in a clean satin drape.

The Arlene Two-Piece Satin Set is one of our most body-inclusive silhouettes. The wide-leg pant elongates the frame, and the satin drape skims rather than clings — no stiffness, no compression. The strapless top balances the volume of the pant for a proportional look. Because it's a two-piece, you can also mix sizes between the top and bottom if your measurements differ significantly between your bust and hips.

The Everette Dress in Pink

The Everette Dress in Pink features a smocked bodice that stretches and adjusts naturally to your torso — which makes it one of our more size-flexible styles. The off-shoulder neckline draws the eye up and out, and the midi-length A-line skirt flows away from the body rather than hugging it. The cotton blend fabric breathes well and has real give.

The Celeste Dress

The Celeste Dress has a lace-up open back — which means there's genuine adjustability built into the fit. The V-neckline is elongating, and the A-line maxi skirt creates a sweeping, flattering silhouette that works across body types. The lace-up back also gives you some flexibility if you're between sizes through the torso.

The Melanie A-Line Maxi Dress

The Melanie A-Line Maxi Dress is a relaxed, flowing silhouette that doesn't rely on stretch or compression for its shape. It's a strong choice for shoppers who want an occasion-ready look without a body-hugging fit, and the maxi length works beautifully on taller frames.

Two-Piece Sets: A Smarter Way to Shop When Sizing Is Tricky

If you've ever had the experience of a dress fitting perfectly on top but not on the bottom — or vice versa — two-piece sets are worth a serious look. Because the top and skirt or pant are separate pieces, you can size them independently to match your actual measurements rather than compromising for a single garment size.

Our Aria Linen Set and Colette Linen Two-Piece Long Sleeve Set are both worth exploring for this reason — linen and linen-blend fabrics also have natural ease and breathability that make them more forgiving across a range of body shapes.

What We're Working On

We want to be direct: expanding our size range is a priority, not an afterthought. Here's what's actively in progress or under serious consideration:

  • Extended sizing to 2X and 3X — We're evaluating which silhouettes in our catalog translate best to extended sizes and working with our production partners on grading those patterns correctly. Getting the proportions right matters more to us than simply adding a number to a label.
  • Removable or adjustable bust padding — We know fixed padding is a barrier for both smaller-chested and fuller-busted shoppers. Future designs will prioritize adjustable or removable options so you can wear your own bra or go without.
  • More detailed size guidance on every product page — We're adding explicit "runs small — size up" callouts, independent bust/waist/hip guidance, and fit notes for petite and tall shoppers directly on product pages.
  • Petite-specific length options — We're exploring offering select styles in a shorter length option for shoppers under 5'3".

None of these are overnight changes. But they're real commitments, and we'd rather tell you what we're actually doing than make promises we can't keep.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Shopise carry plus sizes?

Currently, most Shopise styles range from XS to XL, with XL mapping to approximately a US size 12 in select styles. We do not yet carry dedicated plus sizes (1X, 2X, 3X), but expanding our size range is an active priority. We'll announce new size additions on our site and social channels.

What is the largest size Shopise currently offers?

XL is our largest size across most of the catalog. In some styles, XL maps to a US size 12; in others, it aligns closer to a US 10. Always check the specific size chart on the product page and compare your measurements directly — don't rely on your usual clothing label size.

Do Shopise dresses run small?

Several styles do run small, particularly our knit and bodycon silhouettes. We note this on individual product pages where applicable. As a general rule, if your measurements sit at the top of a size bracket, size up. When in doubt, reach out to us before ordering.

Can I size up to get a better fit if I'm between sizes?

Yes — and we actively recommend it for styles noted as running small. Sizing up and having a dress taken in slightly at the waist is almost always easier and less expensive than trying to make a too-small dress work.

Are the two-piece sets available in separate sizes for top and bottom?

Yes. Because our two-piece sets are sold as separates within the set, you can select different sizes for the top and bottom to match your individual measurements. This is one of the best options available in our current catalog for shoppers whose bust and hip measurements fall in different size brackets.

Will Shopise add 2X and 3X sizes?

Yes — this is something we're actively working on. We're focused on getting the grading right for our specific silhouettes rather than simply adding a size label, which takes time. Follow us on social or sign up for our newsletter to be notified when extended sizes launch.

Can I remove the bust padding from Shopise dresses?

Currently, built-in bust padding in our structured dresses is fixed and not removable. We know this is a frustration for shoppers at both ends of the cup-size spectrum, and adjustable or removable padding is something we're prioritizing in future designs.

What styles are most flattering for curvier body types right now?

We'd point to silhouettes with built-in adjustability or relaxed drape: the Arlene Two-Piece Satin Set (wide-leg pant with skimming satin top), the Everette Dress (smocked bodice with A-line midi skirt), the Celeste Dress (lace-up back for adjustable fit), and our linen two-piece sets. These styles offer more flexibility across a range of measurements than our tighter bodycon silhouettes.
